I have LOVED testing all the five-seater cars in 2018 for their family-friendliness! There have been some outstanding cars in each category and below are my top five family-friendly, five-seater cars of 2018 selection:

In 1st Place – VW Tiguan

The VW Tiguan is a clear winner in the five-seaters, it is a FANTASTIC mid-size SUV! The interior has more storage compartments than a well designed nappy bag having good sized cup holders throughout and fold-down tray tables and boot storage is good too. I could fit my combination of three child-seats across the rear seats and they are comfy for an adult too! The media system, camera and cruise control are all easy and reliable to use. It is hard to find fault with the Tiguan as it really is a box-ticking car but the one main negative that you are made aware of on every journey is…. the incredibly uncomfortable front seats!

Subaru Forester 2019

In 2nd Place – All-New Subaru Forester

The all-new Subaru Forester is a definite 2nd place holder! It is another FANTASTIC mid-size family SUV! This new model has a great new media system which includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The back seats easily fitted three child seats and the boot and interior storage is good too. It's another box-ticking family car with one main negative being the velcro flaps the ISOFix are behind, I'm sure they will catch on clothes and become tatty and full of crumbs over time!

In 3rd Place – Range Rover Velar

The Range Rover Velar may be out of a lot of families budgets with its $140,000 price tag but I have to put it in because it really does deserve its spot in 3rd place! The Velar is an AWESOME car! It so easily fits three child seats, has a beautiful interior and boot storage is good. However, there is no Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and the cruise control could be improved for a car with this price tag!

Kia Cerato Sport 2018 hatch

In 4th Place – Kia Cerato Sport

To the opposite end of the price tag spectrum, in 4th place is the Kia Cerato Sport which I found to be a great, fun little hatch that was awarded 2016 Australia's Best Small Car under $35,000. I can definitely see why! I just can't get over how spacious the interior of the Cerato is with two child seats installed! There is a fantastic amount of legroom for a car of this size! Also for a forward facing child seat with a 185cm driver in front, they still have a really big amount of legroom too! Boot space is excellent, I could fit a twin or tandem stroller in with a few shopping bags and the interior storage is minimal as you'd expect but it's practical. The media system is basic but has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto! For a two-child family, this really is a great little/big hatch!

In 5th Place- Skoda Superb

The Skoda Superb may be a surprise to some in 5th place but this car really does lead the race when it comes to legroom.  It is full of Skodas best accessories like torches in the boot, iPad holders, umbrellas in the doors and a ball or cake holder in the boot! The boot and interior storage is FANTASTIC too and cleverly thought out.
