What is rear cross traffic alert?

Advert: Mocka nursery furniture

Rear cross traffic alert warns you when traffic approaches from either side when you are reversing, which is especially useful reversing out of a driveway or car parking spaces.

How does rear cross traffic alert work?

Rear cross traffic alert sensors turn on automatically when you put the car in reverse, monitoring two areas behind you for vehicles approaching from the right or left.

Different cars warn you in different ways; either a light flashing on your wing mirrors, a lit icon flash up on your driver display, a beeping or warning sound or a vibration in your seat or steering wheel.

Do I need rear cross traffic alert in my new family car?

I have found it especially useful for reversing out of parking spaces, especially with child seats in the back of my car the visibility is not as good and so it is not as easy to see all approaching traffic.
