How big is the boot of the Audi S3 Sportback?
Storage in the 2025 Audi S3 Sportback's boot is practical for a small performance car.

The boot door has a kick function so you move your foot underneath the back bumper and the tailgate automatically opens! It's also got a press button too, and it opens and closes really nice and quietly, so it won't wake your sleeping kids in the back. There's also a lock button, so you can press that, walk away from the vehicle, and it will close the boot and lock the vehicle as well. I always find this handy when exiting the car with my kids and all their stuff.

When it comes to boot space, the Audi S3 Sportback will hold 10 shopping bags, which is comparable to other sporty hatchbacks like the VW Golf, Peugeot 308 and Cupra Leon which all hold ten shopping bags in their boots. The Audi A3 sedan I tested fits 13 bags.

The Thule Sleek future-proof multi-configuration pram with a single seat…

…will fit in the boot of the Audi S3 Sportback with one shopping bag.

The Thule Sleek with two sibling seats…

…will fit neatly in the boot, but with no shopping bags.

The Thule Urban Glide 3 ultimate All Terrain stroller with the back wheels on…

…fits easily in the boot with one shopping bag.

The Thule Spring lightweight, one-handed folding stroller…

…fits in the boot of the Audi S3 Sportback with two shopping bags. I found myself using this pram most during my week with the S3 Sportback as it packs down so small.

You can fit two 90-litre Thule Chasm duffel bags in the boot.

Or you can put your small-size dog in the boot of the Audi S3 Sportback if you remove the parcel shelf.

The boot space and its functionality are really important. I like to have a big boot space and little side wells or areas I can divide things into. So something I don't want to move around while I'm driving such as my daughter's lunch bag or her wet swimming gear can be sectioned off in a little well where it's not going to spill or get squashed by the rest of the things in the boot.
How good is the storage in the 2025 Audi S3 Sportback for families?
The interior of the front of the S3 Sportback is really nice, clutter-free, clean and minimal, and the body-hugging front bucket seats are really nice and comfortable!

When it comes to storage in the front, there are two cup holders in the central console. They will hold a reusable or a disposable coffee cup.

In front of them is a wireless phone charging pad, and you've got USB-C sockets there too.

The central console box is very small, but it's handy.

The glove box is a good size – it will hold an iPad with the manual.

The front door bins are a good size too. They will hold a large refillable water bottle and an iPad fits in them too.

There's also a little storage drawer down by the driver's right knee.

In the back, storage is pretty good. There is a fold-down armrest in the central seat back with two cup holders. They will hold a reusable or a disposable coffee cup, or kids' drink cups fit in them too.

There are net map pockets on the back of both front seats…

…they will hold but not conceal an iPad.

The door bins in the back are a good size. They will hold a large refillable water bottle, and there's a little bit of space behind them for other things.

There are also USB-C sockets in the back of the central console box so rear passengers can charge their devices too.

How many child seats will fit in the 2025 Audi S3 Sportback?
In the back of the Audi S3 Sportback, there are ISOFix in the two outer seats.

They are within plastic guides with a really lovely cover on them that just retracts back. They're really nice and easy to access and connect to!

There are top tether anchorages on the back of all three of the rear seats. They're really nice and easy to access through the boot.

I can only fit two child seats in the back of the Audi S3 Sportback. The seats are just not wide enough across the shoulders to fit three, and I couldn't fit in the back there between two child seats either. You might find this too limiting for your family!

With a rear-facing child seat installed, only about a 170-centimetre driver could fit in front – taller parents need to take this into account.

But with forward-facing child seats in the back, a 180-centimetre plus driver or passenger can fit in the front, which is much better!

When it comes to legroom, there is a small hump in the central seat footwell, so any passenger there would have to straddle that hump.

How comfortable is the 2025 Audi S3 Sportback for families?
Passengers in the back of the Audi S3 Sportback are kept nice and comfortable. There are air-con vents in the back of the central console box so you can keep them the right temperature while you're driving along.

There are handles above both rear doors so you can hang a toy for rear-facing little passengers to keep them entertained.

And there are lights in the central ceiling as well, which is great for checking on kids at night or doing up seatbelts in the dark.
I have found our daughter does not like travelling in the dark in the car so if it gets dark whilst travelling then I reach back and turn the interior light on for her. So it's really important for me that I can reach the rear ceiling light.

The media system in the Audi S3 Sportback has a 10.1-inch screen. While it's not the biggest, it's ample and all you need!

The S3 Sportback has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which is great for accessing your phone, your apps and music while you're driving along.

The main system is really nice and modern. It's easy to navigate and to use. It does have built-in sat nav, which is fantastic, and it also has some things that I really like – the weather, the calendar, the news and things like that.

If you go into the settings menu, you can customise a lot of things about the car, things that we really like in our family, like the sound. So if your kids are a little bit noise sensitive, as lots of them are, this is a great feature.

You can also go into the car settings and turn on and off different driver assist settings and customise the drive how you like it.

When you put the S3 Sportback into reverse, the camera images are really nice and clear. You can easily turn the parking sensor volume on and off on the screen as well.
Some of these safety features are also features that drive me crazy as a mum! Like the lane departure and forward collision alert or the parking sensor beeping sound. I want all the safety technology AND to be able to mute the sound when Bub's asleep!

Below the media screen you have the air-con controls. They're separate to the main screen, which is fantastic because it makes them much easier to use when you're driving along!

The front seats are Sport front seats in plush Nappa leather with S embossing and diamond contrast stitching and there is also electric adjustment for both front seats. You can't adjust those built-in headrests for wearing a ponytail though.
I had spent hours styling my hair this morning to get it just right too… said no new mum ever!!!

How safe is the 2025 Audi S3 Sportback for families?
When it comes to safety in the Audi S3 Sportback does not have an ANCAP safety rating. The 2WD Audi A3 models have a five-star ANCAP rating but this does not apply to the AWD S3 Sportback model.
The Audi S3 Sportback has seven airbags as standard, including side curtain airbags that extend to second-row passengers.

The S3 comes standard with a heap of safety features including autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control with Stop&Go function, traffic jam assist and emergency assist, lane keep assist and lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring with lane change warning, rear cross-traffic alert, park assist with front and rear parking sensors, an exit warning system that detects vehicles and cyclists when opening doors, turn assist for monitoring oncoming traffic when turning, and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) with ABS, ASR and EDL.
What is the 2025 Audi S3 Sportback like to drive?
The Audi S3 Sportback is very, very nice to drive! It's really smooth. Being a luxury vehicle, you're cocooned from the outside noise, the engine has a lovely sporty sound, and the steering is really, really light, making the turning circle really tight as well. So those two things make it really nice and easy to manoeuvre and to park!

Being a small vehicle, it's really nice and easy in those tight multi-storey car parks. The 0-100km/h acceleration time of 4.7 seconds means you can be confident when accelerating out at junctions and roundabouts.
One thing I have noticed since being a mum is I hate it when I reach a destination or get home from being out and Bub has either done really well in the car or she is screaming her head off and I have done really well to keep it together for the entire journey (usually the latter!!) and it takes 10 minutes to park the car! It can be really stressful.
Visibility is very good in the S3 Sportback too. With two child seats in the back, I can see straight out of the back windscreen, which is great. And we've got really nice visibility out of the sides as well. It's just a very nice car to drive, and also very fast and fun!

The S sport suspension with damper control is lowered by 15mm compared to a regular Audi A3 but you still get a comfortable ride as well a it feeling very responsive in corners. The all-wheel-drive system provides great stability especially important in the wet when you've got precious cargo on board!

BabyDrive Verdict on the 2025 Audi S3 Sportback
To sum up, the Audi S3 Sportback does make a great little sporty car but with some limitations for young families. You can only fit two child seats in the back and legroom is a problem with rear-facing child seats and infant capsules. If you have one or two children who are old enough to be forward-facing the S3 Sportback is definitely an appealing option if you like fun, luxurious small cars.

The boot space is reasonable for a small car. You can fit the Thule Spring compact pram in the boot nicely with a little room to spare. You could also go for the S3 Sedan which has a bit more space.

The drive is fantastic in this car – it's fast, fun, and surprisingly practical for daily family duties.

The media system and cameras are excellent too, with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The quiet boot operation is a real plus when you need to load or unload without disturbing sleeping babies!
