How big is the boot of the 2024 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max?

The 2024 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max's boot space is very generous; it fits 15 shopping bags when empty, which is comparable to the Mahindra XUV700 and Mitsubishi Outlander which both also hold 15 and the Nissan X-Trail which holds 13 shopping bags when empty.

The boot space and its functionality are really important. I like to have a big boot space and little side wells or areas I can divide things into. So something I don’t want to move around while I’m driving such as Bub’s lunch bag or her wet swimming gear can be sectioned off in a little well where it’s not going to spill or get squashed by the rest of the things in the boot.

Hooks for securing shopping bags to are also favourites of mine, I like being able to secure the bag containing more fragile things like eggs so they don’t move around on the journey.

I measure the boot space in freezer shopping bags, prams and dogs. Not because I think all there is to a mum’s life is food shopping, prams and dogs. (Although it can feel like it sometimes!!) But because these are visually mesurable items we can all associate with. For me, the car company boot measurement of litres is not an amount I can easily visualise and 400L in one car may differ in usability to that in another due to the configuration or shape of the space.

How good is storage in the 2024 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max?

Storage inside the cabin of the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max is really good.

In the front of the Chery Tiggo 8, there is a central console bridge providing ample storage above and below it.

The central console has two cup holders on top that will hold a reusable or disposable coffee cup. In front of them is a wireless phone charging pad with USB and USB-C sockets.

Underneath the bridge is a good storage area for your handbag and it fits an iPad and wallet.

The central console box is large and has a vent inside it, so you can make it cold if you want to by rotating and opening the vent inside it so air can flow in.

The glove box is a good size and will hold a wallet and iPad with the manual.

There is a bag hook in the front passenger footwell for a handbag.

The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max has lit vanity mirrors in both front visors and a lined glasses case in the ceiling, giving drivers a safe place to keep their glasses.

The front door bins will hold your refillable water bottle, an iPad and a wallet fit, too. There are also storage wells in the front door handles.

The 2024 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max's rear passengers are also well looked after, with USB and USB-C sockets for charging their devices while driving and a phone storage shelf.

On the back of both front seats are map pockets that will fit but not fully conceal your kids' iPads or books.

When you are only using the two outer rear seats, there is a fold-down armrest in the central seatback with two cup holders. They will hold a child's drink cup or a reusable or disposable coffee cup fit in them, too.

The rear door bins are a good size and will hold a refillable water bottle and a wallet and there are storage wells in the handles too.

How noisy is the 2024 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max, and how is the media screen?

The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max has THE QUIETEST indicators I have ever heard in a car! They are wonderful! My noise-sensitive kids didn't hear them once!

The interior of the Tiggo 8 Pro Max is minimal and clutter-free. Most buttons and dials you'd usually find on the dash are within the touch media touch screen.

The large 12.3″ media screen is the focus of the dash in the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max. The media system is really lovely and easy to use and navigate.

It has a really clear 360-degree panoramic camera image which makes visibility around the vehicle nice and easy. You can turn the camera on while driving too.

There is a lot you can customise about the Tiggo 8 Pro Max within the vehicle settings screen.

You can control the climate settings on the flat panel on the dash and through the media screen. You can also control the rear climate settings from there too.

You can use the fragrance system in this top-spec 2024 Tiggo 8 Pro Max Ultimate, which blows a scent into the cabin. I found the ‘natural' smell the best. Sport smelt like a boys' locker room after they'd used a lot of deodorant!

Luckily, there is a cabin filter with an air purification button on the bottom right of the screen, which can quickly remove the smell!

The 2024 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so you can access your phone's navigation, communication and listening apps while driving.

When you put it in reverse, the rearview camera image is lovely and clear, and you can view it from different angles, including the 3D panoramic view.

The 2024 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max also has a built-in dash cam! You can turn it on through the media screen while driving, and it will record the road in front of you as you travel.

The 2024 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max has sooooo many features for a seven-seat family SUV, making it great value for money! It's a great car to drive; the steering is lovely and light, and it has a very tight turning circle, so it's easy to manoeuvre and park. When parking, manoeuvring or coming to a junction, the camera comes up on the media screen to give you really good visibility around the vehicle.

The windows and doors in the 2024 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max are nice and quiet too. Closing both the windows and doors is not baby-waking!

The Tiggo 8's tailgate opens and closes silently with the press of a button, which is a FANTASTIC BabyDrive feature. You can carry your baby to and from the car and open and close the boot easily while your arms are full or your Bub is asleep in the car without a beeping boot waking them up!

Becoming a parent I soon realised there are some noises and sounds I feel are unnecessary and I could happily live without if it meant my baby stayed asleep!!

That often the distraction of my screaming, distressed baby is more dangerous when driving than not having a lane departure warning for example.

If it is the lane departure warning beeping that creates distress with my baby then which is safest?

It’s where I think we need to be able to strike a balance and choose when we can mute the warnings or swap them to a vibration in the steering wheel or flashing light perhaps?

A lot of these noises come with the increase in technology and especially linked to safety features and alerts. For me these all have their place.

Another thing I have realised is I spend my time in a lot more places where small children roam, parks, beaches, play gyms, swimming lessons, daycare centre etc. I have become more aware that when I’m reversing or manouvering in the car parks I have to tripple check for small children running around behind me or being in my blind spot when reversing. For this I LOVE reversing cameras, I just don’t like their beeping sounds!!

I have become so much more aware of safety and potential accidents or hazards since having a child and so I love the peace of mind that I get from the cameras and sensors combined with my own vision from windows and mirrors as I don’t trust cameras alone.

The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max is quite a smooth drive, and there are no real baby-waking noises!

How many child/baby seats can you fit in the 2024 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max?

When it comes to installing child seats in the new 2024 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max, there are ISOFix points in both outer second-row seats. They are clearly labelled, within plastic guides and are nice and easy to connect to.

There are no ISOFix or top tether anchorages in the third-row seats, so you can't install child seats back there.

Three child seats fit nicely across the second-row seats of the 2024 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max. The central seat buckle position is a little tricky for installing the central child seat but you can work around it.

Legroom is very good in the Chery Tiggo 8. We found that a 180cm driver could sit in front of a rear-facing infant capsule, or we could fit a 186cm driver in front of a forward-facing child seat. With two child seats installed in the back, I could sit comfortably between them, and I am 162cm tall.

The rear footwells are flat except for a small hump in the central footwell in the second row, so there is lots of kick room, and it is easy for passengers to get in and out of the back of the car.

The third-row seats are very comfortable, with excellent kick room for passengers. I fit there very comfortably, and I am 162cm tall. Headroom and legroom were good for passengers up to approximately 170cm tall. There is also good visibility out of the side windows for passengers.

Third-row access is very good in the Tiggo 8 if only two child seats are installed in the second row. The second-row seats are split 60:40, with the single seat behind the driver. If you have two child seats on the 60 side, you can slide the single second-row seat forward using the mechanism, and you have a lovely big step through to the third row.

With only one child seat installed, there is plenty of room in the back of the 2024 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max to feed Bub. Posting Bub into their child seat from inside and outside the car was fine in the Tiggo 8 Pro Max, too.

Australia being a country of weather extremes- blazing sun and torrential rain, mean you may find it easier to put Bub into their seat from inside the car sometimes. If it’s hot you can get the air-con going, cool the car down and not stand out in the sun while you fasten them in or shelter from the rain and not get soaked yourself whilst you’re doing it. So it is important to test whether Bub can be easily installed from either direction!

How comfy is the 2024 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max?

The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max keeps rear passengers comfortable with air vents in the back of the central console box for second-row passengers. There are also USB and USB-C sockets for charging rear passenger devices while driving and a phone storage shelf.

There are also air vents and controls in the third row so passengers are kept at the right temperature.

There are four vents across the front dashboard, one at each end and two in the middle.

The flat panel on the dash and the media screen allow you to control all of the climate settings. You can even control the rear air conditioning through the front media screen, which is great when you have kids in the back seats.

The rear seats are very comfortable for rear passengers in the second and third rows who are not in child seats.

They're upholstered simply with brown pleather with perforated panels and stitch details, which could catch a lot of kids' crumbs if they eat in the car.

The front seats in the 2024 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max have the same leather-like upholstery as the rear and are very comfortable too.

The steering wheel is fully adjustable up/down and in/out, and the cruise control buttons on the left are simple and easy to use. I found that the cruise control was better on motorways, straight roads, and at faster speeds than on undulating roads at slower speeds.

There are no built-in window shades in the 2024 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max, so you do have to add your own after-market rear window shades.

The 2024 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max has good visibility even with three child seats in the back. It is comfortable and easy to drive for school drop-offs and around town, and the 3D camera makes manoeuvring and parking easy.

One thing I have noticed since being a mum is I hate it when I reach a destination or get home from being out and Bub has either done really well in the car or she is screaming her head off and I have done really well to keep it together for the entire journey (usually the latter!!) and it takes 10 minutes to park the car! It can be really stressful. Usually, I dread parking long cars as they take longer in our tight apartment block carpark, but the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max seven seat SUV was fine to reverse park!

The interior of the 2024 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max is modern and clutter-free, with good storage.

How safe is the 2024 Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max?

The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max has been given a five-star ANCAP safety rating. Scoring 87% for child occupancy protection and 88% for adult occupancy protection based on the crash testing of the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro.

Of the child occupancy testing, ANCAP wrote:

In the frontal offset test, protection of the neck of the 10 year dummy was ADEQUATE, while the protection offered to all other critical body regions of both the 6 and 10 year dummies was GOOD.

In the side impact test, protection of the head of the 10 year dummy was ADEQUATE, while that of other body areas of both the 6 year and 10 year dummies was GOOD.

The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max is fitted with lower ISOFix anchorages on the rear outboard seats and top tether anchorages for all rear seating positions.

An indirect child presence detection (CPD) system, which provides an alert when a child may have been left in the rear passenger seats of the vehicle, is fitted as standard.

Installation of typical child restraints available in Australia and New Zealand showed most child restraints could be accommodated in most rear seating positions, though for the centre rear position the Type A capsule, one of the convertible seats (forward facing), and one of the selected booster seats could not be correctly installed.

Eight airbags are standard but do not extend to the third-row seats:

Dual frontal airbags, side chest-protecting and side head-protecting (1st & 2nd row ONLY) airbags, and a driver knee airbag are standard. A centre airbag which provides added protection to front seat occupants in side impact crashes.

The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro Max comes with Autonomous emergency braking (AEB) – Car-to-Car, Vulnerable Road User, Pedestrian, Backover, Cyclist, Motorcycle, Junction, Junction (Pedestrian), Junction (Cyclist), Junction (Motorcycle) and Crossing. Blind spot monitor (BSM), Child presence detection / alert, Cyclist dooring detection / alert, Driver monitoring system – Direct, Forward collision warning (FCW), Lane departure warning (LDW), Lane keep assist (LKA) Car-to-Car, Secondary / multi-collision brake, Speed assistance – intelligent adaptive cruise control (iACC) and Speed assistance – speed sign recognition & warning as standard.

Some of these safety features are also features that drive me crazy as a mum! Like the lane departure and forward collision alert or the parking sensor beeping sound. I want all the safety technology AND to be able to mute the sound when Bub’s asleep!
