How much does the 2025 Audi Q7 cost, why is the SQ7 so expensive and what are the options?

Model Price (Before On-road Costs)
Q7 45 TFSI $108,815
Q7 45 TDI $117,284
Q7 50 TDI S line $136,815
Q7 55 TFSI S line $136,815
SQ7 TFSI $174,815

The 2025 Audi SQ7 sits at the top of the Q7 range at $174,815 (excluding on-road costs). Our test vehicle came loaded with options including the Dynamic package ($10,900) which adds active roll stabilisation and quattro sport differential, and the Sensory package ($14,400) featuring Bang & Olufsen 3D Advanced Sound System, some of the best massage seats I've ever experienced, and full leather interior. Other options included HD Matrix LED headlights with laser light ($3,950), bringing the as-tested price to a massive $209,215!

How big is the boot of the Audi SQ7?

The boot door of the Audi SQ7 opens nice and quietly with just the touch of a button and closes that way too. It also has a great lock button, so you can lock the whole car as the tailgate electronically closes. It is a really nice feature when you're exiting the car with your hands full of family and their stuff!

Some other nice features on the left-hand side of the boot are buttons to raise and lower the third-row seats, and also buttons to raise and lower the height of the vehicle. At 162cm in I found this very handy when you're loading and unloading prams.

When using two rows of seats, the boot of the Audi SQ7 will hold 19 shopping bags, which is one less than a BMW X7  and two more than a Genesis GV80. Quite a different beast but similarly priced is the GMC Yukon Denali which can hold a massive 24 bags.

The boot space and its functionality are really important. I like to have a big boot space and little side wells or areas I can divide things into. So something I don't want to move around while I'm driving such as my daughter's lunch bag or her wet swimming gear can be sectioned off in a little well where it's not going to spill or get squashed by the rest of the things in the boot.

Hooks for securing shopping bags to are also favourites of mine, I like being able to secure the bag containing more fragile things like eggs so they don't move around on the journey.

I measure the boot space in freezer shopping bags, prams and dogs. Not because I think all there is to a mum's life is food shopping, prams and dogs. (Although it can feel like it sometimes!!) But because these are visually measurable items we can all associate with. For me, the car company boot measurement of litres is not an amount I can easily visualise and 400L in one car may differ in usability to that in another due to the configuration or shape of the space.

When using all three rows of seats, the boot of the SQ7 will hold seven shopping bags, the same as a BMW X7  and two more than a Genesis GV80. As I compared it with two rows in use, it's worth pointing out that the GMC Yukon Denali can 10 bags behind row 3.

How good is the storage in the 2025 Audi SQ7 for families?

The front interior of the Audi SQ7 is really modern and minimal, with nice textures along the dash and two decks of screens in the middle. The front seats are very comfortable with lots of adjustments, including this car's optional massage seats which are absolutely wonderful!

In the front, there are two cup holders in the central console that will hold a reusable or disposable coffee cup, and there's a spot for the key fob as well.

Behind those is the central console box, which is very small but still useful. There is the wireless phone charging pad in there, and beside it a little space for your sunglasses.

The glove box is a good size that will hold my iPad and wallet with the manual.

The door bins in the front are nice and large. They will hold a refillable water bottle and an iPad and wallet fit in them too.

In the third row on both sides, there are cup holders that will hold a refillable water bottle or a reusable coffee cup.

In the second row, there is a fold-down armrest in the central seat back with two cup holders. They will hold a kid's drink bottle or a disposable coffee cup, but they're very narrow so not many types of cup would fit in them.

There are net map pockets on the back of both front seats. They will hold but not conceal an iPad.

The door bins in the back are nice and big – they will hold a refillable water bottle and an iPad and wallet fit in them too.

In the back of the central console box, there are USB-C charging sockets so second-row passengers can charge devices while travelling along.

How many child seats will fit in the 2025 Audi SQ7?

When it comes to installing child seats in the back of the Audi SQ7, the rear doors open really nice and wide, so it's easy to access and to get children in and out with plenty of space for you to lean in and do up seat belts and harnesses. The rear door windows have built in window blinds so you can shade your little passengers from the sun while driving along.

This seven-seater Audi SQ7 has ISOFIX in all three second-row seat bases, which is fantastic news! Not many cars have ISOFIX for all three second-row seats.

The ISOFIX anchors are not within plastic guides, instead they are behind a cushion of the seat fabric that you just remove, after which they're nice and easy to access and connect to.

2025 Audi SQ7 or Q7 ISOFIX child seat anchorages in the second row

There are top tether anchorages on the back of all three of the second-row seat backs. You can access those easily by bringing the seats forward or through the boot.

2025 Audi SQ7 or Q7 top tether child seat anchorages in the second row

I could fit three child seats across the second-row in the Audi SQ7, which is fantastic news for families! They fit really nice and comfortably forward facing or rear facing. The second-row seats are three individually sliding, reclining and spacious, and I could sit in the central seat between two child seats.

Also, it means you can move those second-row seats forward and backwards individually to distribute leg room however your family needs to!

When it comes to the third-row seats, there are ISOFIX in both of those as well!

They are within plastic guides and really nice and easy to connect to.

There are top tether anchorages on the back of both of the third-row seats, and they are really nice and easy to access through the boot.

I could fit two child seats in the third-row seats, making the SQ7 a five child seat seven-seat SUV, which is fantastic news for large families!

2025 Audi SQ7 or Q7 with two child seats installed in the third row

When it comes to practicality of accessing the third row, you need to uninstall a second-row child seat in order to get through because the second-row seats, although they're individual, each tumble forward to access the third row.

2025 Audi SQ7 or Q7 access to the third row with child seats installed in the second row

So either you could have one of the outer second-row seats empty, so that's always an access point. Or the central seat in the second row could also be folded down flat easily, so you've always got that access through to the third row.

2025 Audi SQ7 or Q7 access to the third row with child seats installed in the second row

When it comes to legroom in the Audi SQ7, with forward-facing child seats in all five of the rear seats, we could fit about a 180-186cm driver in the front.

2025 Audi SQ7 or Q7 with two child seats installed in the third row

With a rear-facing child seat behind the driver, legroom is less impressive and only about a 170cm driver could fit in the front.

How comfortable is the 2025 Audi SQ7 for families?

The Audi SQ7 has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so you can easily access your phone and apps while driving

The Audi media system is really nice and easy to navigate. Some of the things I love are the weather and your calendar, so you can easily access those while you are driving! As well as inbuilt sat nav and news!

If you go into the car settings, you can adapt a lot of the things in here to your own liking. You can adjust your seats and your seat cushioning, which makes them really comfy.

You can adjust your driver assist settings to how you like them too.

The climate controls are on a separate screen below the main screen, and you also you have your seats and massage seat adjustments in the lower screen as well. This one has heated and cooled seats and heated steering wheel as well, so I was really spoilt!

You've also got built-in sat nav as well, which I found works really well.

When you put the SQ7 in reverse, the camera images are lovely and clear. You can turn the parking sensors off easily with a button on the screen.

You can switch to 360-degree cameras as well, which is really handy for car parks when there's little kids around!

Becoming a parent I soon realised there are some noises and sounds I feel are unnecessary and I could happily live without if it meant my baby stayed asleep!!

That often the distraction of my screaming, distressed baby is more dangerous when driving than not having a lane departure warning for example.

If it is the lane departure warning beeping that creates distress with my baby then which is safest?

It's where I think we need to be able to strike a balance and choose when we can mute the warnings or swap them to a vibration in the steering wheel or flashing light perhaps?

When it comes to comfort, there are air-con vents in the back of the central console box in the second row.

2025 Audi SQ7 or Q7 legroom with forward-facing child seats installed in the second row

As well as in these side pillars, so there is a good airflow through to the second row. However, the third-row seats do not have air vents, so they are relying on the flow from the second and first row to reach them.

There are grab handles above the second-row doors, so you can hang a little toy on there for rear-facing infants. And there's also lights in the ceiling for the second and third-row passengers.

I have found our daughter does not like travelling in the dark in the car so if it gets dark whilst travelling then I reach back and turn the interior light on for her. So it's really important for me that I can reach the rear ceiling light.

Also if I am traveling home and it is getting near to bed time and I DEFINITELY DON'T want her to fall asleep in the car as even a 5-minute nap in the car means bed time is all over!!!! I lean back and pop the light on so it's not dark and try to keep her awake!! Along with screaming/singing at the top of my voice!!!

2025 Audi SQ7 or Q7 with three child seats installed in the second row

There are built-in window blinds in the rear doors in the SQ7 which are fantastic for keeping little passengers shaded from the sun while you're driving along!

The Audi SQ7 has individual child locks in the driver's door control panel, which is fantastic for being able to lock the rear doors and windows individually.

A great feature for families are the soft-close doors, which are very helpful when your kids don't shut the door properly, so they automatically close gently and quietly!

With baby asleep you can get in and out without worrying the doors will be too noisy. The same for the windows their mechanism is not too noisy and I didn't notice them having a loud opening or closing sound.

With baby asleep you want to be able to get in and out without worrying the doors will be too noisy and wake Bub up!

How safe is the 2025 Audi SQ7 for families?

The Audi SQ7 is included in the Q7's five-star ANCAP safety rating, scoring 87% for child occupancy and 92% for adult occupancy. It also scored 71% for vulnerable road user protection and 71% for safety assist.

The SQ7 features nine airbags including side curtain airbags that do extend to the third row, which is great news for families!

According to ANCAP, protection for the 6-year and 10-year child dummies was rated as GOOD in both frontal offset and side impact tests, with protection offered to all critical body regions.

Standard safety features include autonomous emergency braking (AEB) with pedestrian and cyclist detection, adaptive cruise control (ACC), lane keep assist (LKA) with lane departure warning (LDW), emergency lane keeping (ELK), traffic sign recognition, blind spot monitoring (BSM), rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA), electronic stability control (ESC), and tyre pressure monitoring (TPMS).

The SQ7 also includes traffic jam assist, emergency assist, intersection assist, and a 360-degree camera system with parking assist plus.

Some of these safety features are also features that drive me crazy as a mum! Like the lane departure and forward collision alert or the parking sensor beeping sound. I want all the safety technology AND to be able to mute the sound when Bub's asleep!

What is the 2025 Audi SQ7 like to drive?

The Audi SQ7 is a really, really nice car to drive! It's a luxurious and comfortable to drive with the family onboard and then fast and powerful when you are driving alone. Because it has all-wheel steering the turning circle is tiny for a seven seater, and the steering is really nice and light, which makes parking and manoeuvring easy, especially in tight school and supermarket car parks. Also, although it's a seven-seat SUV, it feels small on the road, which also makes it really nice and easy to take into those underground car parks.

The drive is really, really nice and quiet. You're really cocooned from all the outside road and wind noise, so it's a really lovely drive, not only for the driver but also the passengers too.

It is incredibly fast, so pulling out at T-junctions and roundabouts, you don't need to worry at all – it has great acceleration. It's a little bit like an electric car in how quick its response is.

One thing I have noticed since being a mum is I hate it when I reach a destination or get home from being out and the kids have either done really well in the car or she is screaming her head off and I have done really well to keep it together for the entire journey (usually the latter!!) and it takes 10 minutes to park the car! It can be really stressful. Usually, I dread when we get the big cars and utes as they take longer in our tight apartment block carpark, but the SQ7 was very enjoyable to drive!

Visibility is very good in the Audi SQ7. Even with five child seats in the back, I can see over the top of them and out the rear windscreen.

2025 Audi SQ7 or Q7 with three child seats installed in the second row

You also get the really good cameras in the SQ7 and great visibility down the sides of the car too.

The one thing I would say is the engine is quite loud. It has that V8 growl from outside which some people love, but it might wake sleeping babies if you're sneaking out for an early gym session! I also found it used A LOT of fuel. I was expecting it to be thirsty but not THAT thirsty, so the $200K price is just the beginning of your spending journey with this car…

Additional Information:

The Audi SQ7 comes with a five-year unlimited kilometre warranty and five years of  roadside assistance. Five-year service plans are available, and customers can also purchase Audi Advantage packages to extend warranty, servicing and roadside assistance.

The SQ7's V8 petrol engine produces 373kW and 770Nm of torque, meaning 0-100km/h acceleration takes just 4.1 seconds! The adaptive air suspension sport and all-wheel steering come standard, with the Dynamic package adding active roll stabilisation and quattro sport differential for even sportier handling.

If you're looking at the 2025 Audi SQ7, you might also want to consider the BMW X7  and two more than a Genesis GV80. Similarly priced and also with a V8 is the GMC Yukon Denali. You might also be interested in the Land Rover Defender or Discovery.
