We are testing the 2024 Nissan Navara Pro-4X Warrior. This Nissan Navara five-seat dual-cab ute has been beefed up. For the Warrior model, Nissan has again teamed up with Australian engineering company Premcar, which also created the Patrol Warrior, one of my favourite cars of all time. Their challenge was to take the top-spec Navara and make some serious adaptions to make it even more capable off-road and build the Nissan Navara Pro-4X Warrior we're testing today.
Let's start by putting the updated 2024 Nissan Navara Pro-4X Warrior through our full BabyDrive testing with child seats and Thule prams. Then we'll take it on an off-road family holiday adventure! Let's see how we get on…

How much does the 2024 Nissan Navara Pro-4X Warrior cost?
The basis for the Navara Pro 4X Warrior is the top-spec Pro 4X model Navara with lots of off-road upgrades and instead of customers buying lots of aftermarket parts, the conversion is already done for you and it keeps the 10-year, 300,000-kilometre Nissan factory warranty (provided you do all your servicing at Nissan dealers). As well as smoothing out the buying process for customers (I know my family doesn't have much free time to go around buying and fitting accessories), you can go back to your dealership if anything goes wrong.
The updated 2024 Nissan Navara Pro 4X Warrior is priced at $73,490 for the automatic and $71,490 for the manual.

When it comes to storage in the rest of the Nissan Navara, it is minimal but practical for families. In the rear seats, there are two cup holders in a fold down in the central seat back that will fit a reusable or disposable coffee cup, or a child's drink cup fits there too.
The rear door bins will hold a reusable water bottle.
There are no map pockets on the back of either front seats.
In the back of the central console box is a small shelf and USBC socket for phones.
In the front of the 2024 Nissan Navara Pro 4X Warrior, the storage is minimal but practical too. There are twoo cup holders in the central console that will hold a reusable or a disposable coffee cup.
In front of the cup holders is a phone charging tray with phone charging sockets and there is a slot for holding phones either side of this.
The central console box is a very practical size for families, with USB, USBC and 12V sockets inside.
The glove box will fit an iPad with the manual.
There is a lined glasses case in the ceiling.
The front visors do not have lit vanity mirrors in them.
The front door bins are larger than those in the back! They will hold a large refillable water bottle and an iPad or wallet will fit in the door bin.
How many child seats will fit in the 2024 Nissan Navara Pro 4X Warrior?
Now moving on to the rear seats and installation of child seats… This 2024 Nissan Navara Pro-4X Warrior dual-cab ute has ISOFix in both of the outer rear seats. They are not within plastic guides but are nice and easy to connect to.
The top tether anchorages in the Nissan Navara are woven fabric loops situated behind the headrests instead of having fixed metal anchorages behind the vehicle's seat backs.
There are lots of concerns around these woven loops in terms of safety, longevity and being able to safely and correctly install child seats, not least because of the difficulty in attaching and then adjusting the straps. Find out which dual-cab utes BabyDrive rates as easiest to fit child seats.
In the 2024 Nissan Navara dual cab ute's outer seats you have to feed your top tether strap through the fabric loop behind the headrest and then across to clip it on to the central woven loop tether anchor point. The top tether strap on the passengers side also has to passover or under the central seat belt too which is not ideal and gives another point where the strap could rub over time and get worn out.
For the central seat the top tether strap goes through the central woven loop and across to connect onto one of the outer woven loops. Nissan say you can put child seats in all three rear seating positions yet other manufacturers like the Toyota Hilux, Mazda BT-50, Isuzu MU-X etc with similar woven top tether anchors say you can only fit child seats in the two outer seating positions.
There is also the obvious concern that your top tether strap is going to be constantly rubbing against the woven strap and this will cause fraying of both, thus eventually causing a weak point on the straps in the event of an accident. Being a ute it is also likely to be driven on rough and corrugated roads which could speed up the fraying process. A top tether strap can be replaced on a child seat (although it is a task you don't want regularly) but the woven straps fixed to the Nissan Navara would be a lot more difficult and I'd imagine more expensive to replace (that's if they can be).
Fewer and fewer utes now have a central top tether anchorage, the Jeep Gladiator among the few left that use the metal bar top tether anchors behind the rear seat backs.
I fitted child seats in the two outer seats in the Nissan Navara.
When it came to legroom…
We found that with a forward-facing child seat in the back we could fit a 180cm driver in the front, and with a rear-facing infant capsule in the second row, we could fit a 175cm driver in the front.
How comfortable is the 2024 Nissan Navara Pro 4X Warrior for families?
All members of the family are comfortable in the 2024 Nissan Navara Pro 4X Warrior.
Front passengers have four air vents across the front dashboard. Two in the centre above the media screen and one at each end of the dash.
Second-row passengers have aircon vents in the back of the central console box.
The climate controls are rotary dials on the dash below the media screen.
Seats are comfortable in the front and back of the Nissan Navara with just enough space for a passenger between tewo child seats in the back.
How safe is the 2024 Nissan Navara Pro 4X Warrior for families?
The 2024 Nissan Navara Pro 4X Warrior dual cab ute had a five-star safety rating based on ANCAP testing conducted in 2015, which has now expired. It had seven airbags as standard.
All Nissan Navara models come as standard with autonomous emergency braking (AEB), forward collision warning (FCW), driver attention monitoring and reversing camera. The ST model adds blind-spot monitoring and assist (BSM), rear cross-traffic alert (RCTA), lane-keep assist (LKA), lane departure warning (LDW), surround-view camera and rear parking sensors.
Some of these safety features are also features that drive me crazy as a mum! Like the lane departure and forward collision alert or the parking sensor beeping sound. I want all the safety technology AND to be able to mute the sound when Bub's asleep!
How easy is the media system to use in the 2024 Nissan Navara Pro 4X Warrior?
The media system in the 2024 Nissan Navara Pro 4X Warrior has a 8″ touchscreen. It's easy to use and navigate while driving.
It has wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto so you can safely access your phone's navigation, podcast/music and messaging apps while driving.
The sound and volume and beeps menu allows you to change the volume of a lot of things…
…which is helpful if you have noise-sensitive kids or if your little ones are sleeping.
The reversing cameras are good, they're quite clear images but the screen is small for such a big vehicle.
What is the 2024 Nissan Navara Pro 4X Warrior like to drive?
The 2024 Nissan Navara Warrior dual cab ute is a beast of a ute to drive, it's had all the adaptations to the suspension from Premcar so it's really capable on-road it's nice to drive and off-road you can feel very confident driving it on dirt and sand.
With the child seats in the back I can see well out of the rear window and the kids love driving along with the little rear window open between them!
Visibility out of the front is good because you sit in such a high position but it is a big ute and it fills a whole parking space which makes parking and maneuvering in school and shopping centre carparks an opportunity to perfect your parking skills!
The Navara's turning circle is good for a ute, it's comfortable to ride in and the visibility is good.

BabyDrive Verdict: A great family adventure ute best saved for when your kids are out of child seats
The 2024 Nissan Navara Pro-4X Warrior's Australian-engineered Premcar enhancements give it more off-road ability while improving on-road comfort for daily driving.
For families, the spacious tray accommodates everything from shopping to strollers and camping gear, while the rear seat's main downside is the fabric top tether anchors and small legroom with rear-facing child seats.
The warranty also provides peace of mind that aftermarket modifications often can't match.
