BabyDrive Verdict

The 2022 Porsche 911 GTS is a DREAM to drive and luckily you can even take the kids along too!! Now you may not think a sports car like this is a practical family car and BabyDrive but actually, it is.

Not only is it addictive for adults to drive but it is surprisingly practical for our family of four and the kids LOVE it too! The joy when driving it makes it impossible to drive without a big smile on your face 🙂

I've been lucky enough to drive a few Porsches now and this and the Macan are by far my favourites! Like the Macan, the Porsche 911 GTS is a joy to drive. It grips to the road in corners like nothing else out on the open roads and is also fun and enjoyable on everyday drop-off and commutes.

The Porsche 911 GTS is an iconic car, classically beautiful on the outside with a modern and stylish interior.

When it comes to practicality in the back there are ISOFix points in both the rear seats; you remove the cushion pad at the back of the seat and the ISOFix are behind it. I really liked this method because it meant the child seats sit really nicely in the back of the rear seat bases, giving a close fit and maximum legroom in the front.

There are top tether anchorages in the parcel shelf behind both rear seats also. They are really nice and easy to reach and attach the top tether straps to. The parcel shelf is large and a good spot for some extra storage like school bags!

You can install two Infasecure child seats nicely in the back, I tried the Infasecure Attain More and Achieve More. I found they had to be forward-facing as there wasn't room for the front seats when I tried installing them rear facing.

The ceiling is low in the back and I discovered that my eldest daughter's Infasecure Versatile Folding Booster doesn't really fit as the backrest gets squashed at the top where the roof slopes inwards. Luckily she is seven so could sit really comfortably in the very bucket-like Porsche seat without her booster seat.

With our tall seven-year-old in one rear seat we could fit a 186cm driver in front of her and on the passenger side we could fit a 170cm passenger in front of our toddler in her forward-facing Infasecure Attain More.

It is quite spacious in the back so it was easy for the kids to climb in and out and for me to reach in and do up harnesses or seat belts. Headroom is a consideration and no one taller than about 162cm can fit in the back without their head touching the ceiling!

There is no storage in the back for rear passengers to put drinks or devices. Just the large parcel shelf behind the rear seats which is the perfect size for school bags in the morning.

As you would imagine storage in the front is compact. There is a single cup holder in the central console for the driver and another that pops out of the dashboard for the front passenger.

The glove box is a good size and holds an iPad and wallet with the manual.

There is a small central console box underneath the armrest that will hold your phone and there is USB-C socket in there too.

The door bins will hold a water bottle and there is another storage area underneath the armrest too, which is good for your phone or purse.

The engine is at the back of the Porsche 911 GTS so there is no boot. There is a frunk which is surprisingly large and will hold three shopping bags.

Or a compact stroller fits in there easily with a bag or two.

Practicalities aside, the Porsche 911 GTS is a fantastic car to drive. It is a lot of fun and comes into its own out on the open winding roads but is still easy to drive around town and for everyday school drop offs, our har had a fantastic button on the dash that raises the front of the car so it doesn't scrape on driveways and kerbs (it's an optional extra but probably pays for itself every day and remembers where you activate it so you don't have to next time you approach that speed bump or steep driveway).

Next to this button is an exhaust button which is great for giving a noisy little grunt from the exhaust when passing your kids' friends at a school pick-up!

The media system in the 2022 Porsche 911 GTS is lovely and modern and easy to use and navigate…

… it does have wireless Apple CarPlay which is really handy for being able to access your phone and your apps and podcasts etc while driving (Android Auto uses the USB-C socket).

There is good sat nav with Google Maps…

… and you can customise a lot of the vehicle settings too.

The cameras in the Porsche 911 GTS are crystal clear and you have lots of different angles you can select from by simple touching on the screen.

Visibility isn't too bad out of the Porsche 911 GTS however you feel much more confident parking this beautiful car with 360-degree views.

The 2022 Porsche 911 GTS is a surprisingly practical sports car for those that want the joy of this beautiful car and to be able to fit the family in daily or occasionally too!

The Porsche 911 GTS is yet to be given an ANCAP safety rating. In fact, good luck finding a Porsche that has any ANCAP rating!
