Rani is the beautiful Mumma behind Little Merchants, a delightful online store of fair trade, handmade and ethically focused baby and children's products. Being an early years educator it is important to Rani to promote awareness of learning through play. I was keen to find out a little more about her role as hard working Mum, wife and what cars are in their family! Enjoy 🙂

In case you missed it:

What inspires you to run Little Merchants?

My two gorgeous daughters and my love for all things eco-friendly and sustainable that are made within fair trade conditions.  I just love being able to provide unique pieces for your home and for your little ones that are ethical, natural and safe for the whole family.

What does it mean to you to be a working mum?

Chaos!  Beautiful chaos!  Haha, I find I have a million mental tabs open all day every day!  I try to start every day with gratitude, raise my babies to the best of my ability (with the most amazing husband), and chase my dreams and personal goals.

How many children do you have?

2 beautiful girls – Poppy (3yrs) and Eadie (21mths).

What is your current family car?

We have two – a Mazda CX9 and a Toyota Landcruiser Dual Cab Ute.  We LOVE both!

Mazda CX-9 Azami

Does your car have a name and who named it?

Actually no they don't…..just Mummy's car and Daddy's car haha!

What are your family's funniest or biggest car disasters?

My husband got home early one day and wanted to come and pick our girls up from daycare with me.  As we'd collected them and popped them into their car seats, he said “I'll drive home” as he HATES being a passenger when I'm driving haha.  Literally 3 seconds later, he reversed straight into a huge yellow pole in the car park, busted my back light and rear panel and made both girls scream from the sound.  I couldn't stop laughing!  I'm not sure if it was because I was so happy that it wasn't me driving or if it was because of his words “that pole has never been there before”…. umm yes buddy, it's always been there! Soooo happy that it wasn't me!!

What was your first car?

A creamy-yellow (1980?) Ford Laser – with a choke to start it!!

What car did your parents have when you were growing up?

My Mum drove a few cars – A Honda Accord, a Discovery, a Toyota Landcruiser and Dad had a Toyota Hilux.

What do your children say about your car or your driving?

Haha, nothing yet but hubby has plenty to say about my driving!

If you could wake up on Mother's Day and have any car what would it be?

Hmm… that's a tough one!  Maybe a Toyota Landcruiser 200 series? But I am so happy with my current car (especially with messy little fingers!)

What does mother's day look like for you?

Waking up with gratitude to my beautiful family, heading out for a coffee followed by a day at the beach – hopefully getting a little surf in if there is any.  We usually have a sunset picnic on the headland somewhere and get takeaway Thai food (my favourite!).  There is nothing else I would rather do than to be with my family and dog, Rambo.
