What is Lane Keep Assist?
Lane Keep Assist will steer your car back into your lane if it senses you start to drift out, often after lane departure warning has already tried alerting you that you are drifting out of your lane with either a visual display, an audible beep or alarm, or using a vibration in your steering wheel or seat.
How does Lane Keep Assist work?
Lane Keep Assist uses cameras to read the road markings ahead of you in the centre and edges of the road. If the driver does not respond to the lane departure warning sound, light or vibration and steers the car back to the centre of the lane then Lane Keep Assist will steer the car back into the centre of the lane.
If there are no road markings or the markings are worn, faded or covered by leaves or debris then they will not work. Some versions of this feature may also help prevent you from driving off the side of the road.
What are the pros and cons of Lane Keep Assist? Do you need Lane Keep Assist on your family car?
