Getting straight into the back seats to see how practical they are for families and fitting child seats, the 2023 Chery Omoda 5 has ISOFIx points in both the outer rear seats that are nice and easy to connect to.
All three rear seatsof the Omoda 5 have top tether anchorages. These are clearly labelled on the back of the seat backs and easily accessible through the boot.
Space in the back of the 2023 Chery Omoda 5 is good for an SUV of this size and we found three Infasecure child seats will fit across the rear seats nicely. I installed the Infasecure Achieve More and Versatile folding booster seat forward facing and the Infasecure Adapt More Infant Capsule rear facing behind the driver's seat.
With the Adapt More Infant Capsule installed in the Chery Omoda 5, we could fit around a 180cm driver in front of it. Or with a forward-facing child seat installed, a 186cm+ driver fits. Which is a very generous amount of legroom for this size of SUV!
The rear footwell of the Omoda 5 is nice and flat with only a small hump in the central position making it more comfortable for passengers sitting in the central seat as they won't have to straddle it. Also, this makes it easier for little passengers to get in and out of their child seats.
Air vents in the back of the central console box allow you to keep your little rear passengers comfortable while driving along in the 2023 Chery Omoda 5 and there is a USB socket for charging devices too.
Storage is good in the back of the Omoda 5, there are two cup holders in a fold-down armrest in the central seat back. A reusable or disposable coffee cup will fit in these.
Map pockets on the back of the front seats will hold and conceal n iPad and the door bins will hold a refillable water bottle and there are little amounts of storage in the handle wells.
Front passengers are kept just as comfortable with two cup holders in the central console that can hold your coffee and two sloped phone charging pads like you would find in the Tesla Model Y.
The central console box is a generous size and it doubles as a fridge with a vent inside you rotate to turn on the airflow. I find this really handy when I go out for the morning with the kids as I can put their sandwiches in there to keep them cool.
The central console bridge in the 2023 Chery Omoda 5 has a good size storage area underneath, large enough for an iPad and there are USB and USB-C sockets there for charging devices too.
Front passengers have the glovebox storage, which will easily hold an iPad and wallet with the manual and the door bins are larger in the front and will hold both with a refillable water bottle.

Front passengers are kept comfortable in this model of Chery Omoda 5 with heated front seats in this model which were very enjoyable on a cold winter morning!
Front passengers will also find the media system in the 2023 Chery Omoda 5 modern and easy to use and navigate. It's great to have such a modern media system in an affordable family SUV.
The Omoda 5 also has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto so you can access your phone and apps while driving along.

…as well as a 3D 360-degree camera which gives you great visibility especially parking and manoeuvring around small kids.
When it comes to storage in the boot, the 2023 Chery Omoda 5 is generous for a small SUV, holding eleven shopping bags when empty. That's better than the MG ZS which holds nine and the GWM Haval Jolion which holds ten.
A side-by-side twin pram fills in the boot of the Omoda 5 with a little room on top of it for a nappy bag or two.

The boot is not overly deep so a small to medium size family dog will fit in the boot of the Chery Omoda 5.
The boot floor is nice and flat and carpeted so it will be comfy for a dog or an emergency nappy change!
Underneath the boot floor, there is a bit of storage space too.
The interior of the Chery Omoda 5 feels pleasant and modern to be in and the central console gives a feeling of division and personal space to the front passengers. (If we parents can remember what that is!!)
The Omoda 5 feels really solid on the road and is a great car to drive, especially for its price. There are a couple of things that ruin the driving experience, the main one is the warnings that beep and flash up on the driver display screen CONSTANTLY about taking a break, being distracted and not paying attention. They seemed to carry on regardless of how diligent you are being. You can turn this off but you have to do it every time you get in the car, which is annoying.
The second is the visibility out of the rearview mirror. It seems to have an almost tunnelled vision effect which is really distracting and difficult to see properly and made me feel sick when driving it on the motorway. I would replace the rearview mirror if I was buying this car to drive my family.
Aside from these two things, the Chery Omoda 5 makes a great family BabyDrive for its size and even better given how many features it includes for the price. Space in the back is great to fit three Infasecure child seats across and legroom is great for a car of this size.
The boot space is practical, fitting eleven shopping bags or a twin pram…
… and the media system and cameras are fantastic.
