The new 2024 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is a five-seater SUV that's surprisingly roomy for its size and is packed with value for money. Let's find out if it is a practical BabyDrive for families and put it through our BabyDrive testing with Infasecure child seats and Thule prams…
BabyDrive Verdict
When it comes to installing child seats in the new Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, there are ISOFix points in both outer rear seats. They are within lovely plastic guides, so you just push back the plastic flap to access the ISOFix point. They are nice and easy to connect to.
There are top tether anchorages in the backs of all three rear seat backs. They are easy to connect to through the boot.
Three Infasecure child seats fit really nicely across the rear seats of the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro. I installed the Infasecure Quattro Onyx and Infasecure Achieve More in the two outer seats and the Liberty Onyx booster seat in the central seat.
The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro has good legroom. With this combination of child seats, we could fit a 186cm driver in front or someone taller on the passenger side.
The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro keeps rear passengers comfortable with air vents in the back of the central console box. These vents are great for keeping little passengers at the right temperature while driving along. There are also USB sockets for charging rear passenger devices while driving and a storage shelf for a phone.
On the back of both front seats are map pockets that will fit but not fully conceal your kids' iPads or books.
When you are only using the two outer rear seats, there is a fold-down armrest in the central seatback with two cup holders. They will hold a child's drink cup or a reusable or disposable coffee cup fit in them, too.
The rear door bins are a good size and will hold a refillable water bottle and a wallet and there are storage wells in the handles too.
In the front of the Chery Tiggo 7, there is a central console bridge providing ample storage above and below it.
The central console has two cup holders on top that will hold a reusable or disposable coffee cup. In front of them is a wireless phone charging pad with USB and USB-C sockets.
Underneath the bridge is a good storage area fitting an iPad and wallet.
The central console box is great! It's a very generous size and has a vent inside it, so you can make it cold if you want to by rotating and opening the vent inside it so air can flow in. There is also a pouch in the bottom with a window-breaking hammer and seatbelt cutter in case of an emergency. It is fantastic to see this included in a car for passenger safety.
The glove box is a good size and will hold a wallet and iPad with the manual.
It's also good to see a lined glasses case in the ceiling as a lot of manufacturers are no longer including them, leaving drivers with nowhere to keep their glasses where they won't get damaged.
The front door bins will hold your refillable water bottle, and an iPad fits, too. There are also storage wells in the front door handles.
The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro's boot space is generous; it fits 11 shopping bags, which is comparable to the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross's eleven. The MG HS and Honda ZR-V both hold twelve shopping bags, and the GWM Haval H6 holds thirteen.
The Thule Sleek, future-proof, multi-configuration pram with a single seat…
…will fit in the boot of the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro with four shopping bags.
The Thule Urban Glide 2 is the ultimate all-terrain stroller…
… with the back wheels on, it will fit in the boot of the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro with two shopping bags.
The Thule Spring, lightweight and one-handed folding stroller…
… fits in the boot of the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro with 7 shopping bags.
You can also fit a 90L and two 70L Thule Chasm duffle bags in the boot of the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro.
Or a medium-sized dog.
The boot floor of the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is nice and flat for an emergency nappy change too!
The interior of the Tiggo 7 Pro is minimal and clean. Most buttons and dials you'd usually find on the dash are within the touch media touch screen.
The large, flat, integrated media screen makes it feel clutter-free.
One of the features I like in the 2024 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro for families is the child lock on the driver's door control panel. One press of the child lock button, and the rear doors and windows are both locked, stopping your kids from accidentally opening the door while driving along or playing with the window.
The media touch screen in the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is really lovely and easy to use.
It has a really clear 360-degree panoramic camera image which makes visibility around the vehicle nice and easy. You can turn the camera on while driving too.
There is a lot you can customise about the Tiggo 7 Pro within the vehicle settings screen.
You control the climate settings through the media screen…
… but you can also change the climate settings by touching the icon on the top right of the screen and verbally asking to change the temperature! It's really helpful while driving. You can also use this to change other things in the car like opening and closing windows for example.
The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto so you can access your phone's navigation, communication and listening apps while driving.
When you put it in reverse, the rearview camera image is lovely and clear and you have different angles you can view from, including the 3D panoramic view.
The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro seems like great value for money given how many features are included for the price. It's a straightforward car to drive that is easy to just get in and go. It handles nicely and is quite smooth too. Visibility is very good in the Tiggo 7 Pro. With three Infasecure child seats installed in the back, I could see well out of the rear window and out of the side windows too (not to mention you can use the cameras while driving forward if for example you have the boot piled high with things for a family holiday). The turning circle is good so parking and maneuvering in school and supermarket carparks is easy too.
Overall, the Tiggo 7 Pro makes a very practical and affordable BabyDrive, it fits three Infasecure child seats in the back and the boot can hold a double Thule pram.
Dual frontal airbags, side chest-protecting and side head-protecting (1st & 2nd row) airbags, and a driver knee airbag are standard. A centre airbag which provides added protection to front seat occupants in side impact crashes is also standard.

BabyDrive Indepth - Storage
How big is the boot of the 2024 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro?
The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro's boot space is generous; it fits 11 shopping bags from empty, which is comparable to the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross‘s eleven. The MG HS and Honda ZR-V both hold twelve shopping bags, and the GWM Haval H6 holds thirteen.
The boot space and its functionality are really important. I like to have a big boot space and little side wells or areas I can divide things into. So something I don’t want to move around while I’m driving such as Bub’s lunch bag or her wet swimming gear can be sectioned off in a little well where it’s not going to spill or get squashed by the rest of the things in the boot.
Hooks for securing shopping bags to are also favourites of mine, I like being able to secure the bag containing more fragile things like eggs so they don’t move around on the journey.
I measure the boot space in freezer shopping bags, prams and dogs. Not because I think all there is to a mum’s life is food shopping, prams and dogs. (Although it can feel like it sometimes!!) But because these are visually mesurable items we can all associate with. For me, the car company boot measurement of litres is not an amount I can easily visualise and 400L in one car may differ in usability to that in another due to the configuration or shape of the space.

How good is storage in the 2024 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro?
Storage inside the cabin is really good, too.
In the front of the Chery Tiggo 7, there is a central console bridge providing ample storage above and below it.
The central console has two cup holders on top that will hold a reusable or disposable coffee cup. In front of them is a wireless phone charging pad with USB and USB-C sockets.

BabyDrive Indepth - Noise
How noisy is the 2024 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, and how is the media screen?
It has a 360-degree panoramic camera with one of the clearest images I've seen on cars regardless of price, which makes visibility around the vehicle nice and easy. You can turn the camera on while driving too.
There is a lot you can customise about the 2024 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro within the vehicle settings screen.

When you put it in reverse, the rearview camera image is lovely and clear, and you can view it from different angles, including the 3D panoramic view.
The indicator sound is not too loud in the Tiggo 7 Pro and does not disturb my kids while they are sleeping in the back.
The windows and doors in the 2024 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro are not too bad for noise. Closing both the windows and doors is not baby-waking!
The Tiggo 7's tailgate opens and closes with the press of a button, which is a great BabyDrive feature. You can carry your baby to and from the car and open and close the boot easily while your arms are full.
Becoming a parent I soon realised there are some noises and sounds I feel are unnecessary and I could happily live without if it meant my baby stayed asleep!!
That often the distraction of my screaming, distressed baby is more dangerous when driving than not having a lane departure warning for example.
If it is the lane departure warning beeping that creates distress with my baby then which is safest?
It’s where I think we need to be able to strike a balance and choose when we can mute the warnings or swap them to a vibration in the steering wheel or flashing light perhaps?
A lot of these noises come with the increase in technology and especially linked to safety features and alerts. For me these all have their place.
Another thing I have realised is I spend my time in a lot more places where small children roam, parks, beaches, play gyms, swimming lessons, daycare centre etc. I have become more aware that when I’m reversing or manouvering in the car parks I have to tripple check for small children running around behind me or being in my blind spot when reversing. For this I LOVE reversing cameras, I just don’t like their beeping sounds!!
I have become so much more aware of safety and potential accidents or hazards since having a child and so I love the peace of mind that I get from the cameras and sensors combined with my own vision from windows and mirrors as I don’t trust cameras alone.
The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is quite a smooth drive, and there are no real baby-waking noises!
BabyDrive Indepth - Car Seats
How many child/baby seats can you fit in the 2024 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro?
When it comes to installing child seats, there are ISOFix points in both outer rear seats. They are within lovely plastic guides, so you just push back the plastic flap to access the ISOFix point. They are nice and easy to connect to.
There are top tether anchorages in the backs of all three rear seat backs. They are easy to connect to through the boot.
Three Infasecure child seats fit really nicely across the rear seats of the 2024 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro.
With only one child seat installed, there is plenty of room in the back of the Tiggo 7 Pro to feed Bub. Posting Bub into their child seat from inside and outside the car was fine in the Tiggo 7 Pro, too.
Australia being a country of weather extremes- blazing sun and torrential rain, mean you may find it easier to put Bub into their seat from inside the car sometimes. If it’s hot you can get the air-con going, cool the car down and not stand out in the sun while you fasten them in or shelter from the rain and not get soaked yourself whilst you’re doing it. So it is important to test whether Bub can be easily installed from either direction!
BabyDrive Indepth - Drive & Comfort
How comfy is the 2024 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro?
The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro keeps rear passengers comfortable with air vents in the back of the central console box. These vents are great for keeping little passengers at the right temperature while driving along. There are also two charging sockets for charging rear passengers' devices.
For rear passengers not in child seats, the rear seats are very comfortable, upholstered simply with stitch details. They are easy to maintain and keep clean with babies, kids and pets.
The front seats in the Tiggo 7 Pro have the same leather-like upholstery as the rear.
The steering wheel is fully adjustable up/down and in/out, and the cruise control buttons on the left on it are simple and easy to use. I found that the cruise control was better on motorways, on straight roads, and at faster speeds than on undulating roads at slower speeds.
There are four air-conditioning vents across the front of the dashboard, two underneath the media screen and one at each end of the dashboard.
The air-con controls are within the media screen. They are easy to locate and use while driving.
You can also use the helper at the top right of the screen to adjust the climate in the car.
The back of the central console box also has two vents for the rear passengers and two charging sockets.
There are no built-in window shades in the 2024 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, so you do have to add your own after-market rear window shades. All the windows are nice and large giving good visibility for rear passengers forward and rear-facing.
The 2024 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro has good visibility even with three Infasecure child seats in the back. It is comfortable and easy to drive for school drop-offs, around town and the 3D camera makes maneuvering and parking easy.
One thing I have noticed since being a mum is I hate it when I reach a destination or get home from being out and Bub has either done really well in the car or she is screaming her head off and I have done really well to keep it together for the entire journey (usually the latter!!) and it takes 10 minutes to park the car! It can be really stressful. Usually, I dread parking long cars as they take longer in our tight apartment block carpark, but the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro was fine to reverse park!
The interior of the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is modern and minimal, with good storage.
BabyDrive Indepth - Safety
How safe is the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro?
The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro has been given a five-star ANCAPÂ safety rating. Scoring 87% for child occupancy protection and 88% for adult occupancy protection. However, some of the safety systems in this car can be annoying and distracting, especially for parents who are already facing sensory overload from getting their kids into the car etc! It's also very bossy about making sure you are looking straight ahead at all times.
Of the child occupancy testing, ANCAP wrote:
In the frontal offset test, protection of the neck of the 10 year dummy was ADEQUATE, while the protection offered to all other critical body regions of both the 6 and 10 year dummies was GOOD.
In the side impact test, protection of the head of the 10 year dummy was ADEQUATE, while that of other body areas of both the 6 year and 10 year dummies was GOOD.
The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is fitted with lower ISOFix anchorages on the rear outboard seats and top tether anchorages for all rear seating positions.
An indirect child presence detection (CPD) system, which provides an alert when a child may have been left in the rear passenger seats of the vehicle, is fitted as standard.
Installation of typical child restraints available in Australia and New Zealand showed most child restraints could be accommodated in most rear seating positions, though for the centre rear position the Type A capsule, one of the convertible seats (forward facing), and one of the selected booster seats could not be correctly installed.
Eight airbags are standard:
Dual frontal airbags, side chest-protecting and side head-protecting (1st & 2nd row) airbags, and a driver knee airbag are standard. A centre airbag which provides added protection to front seat occupants in side impact crashes.
Some of these safety features are also features that drive me crazy as a mum! Like the lane departure and forward collision alert or the parking sensor beeping sound. I want all the safety technology AND to be able to mute the sound when Bub’s asleep!
