The 2023Porsche Cayenne Coupe is a beautiful, luxury five-seater SUV, but is it any good for transporting families? Let's find out and put it through our BabyDrive testing…
BabyDrive Verdict
The 2023 Porsche Cayenne Coupe attracts a lot of attention at school drop-off, especially in this ‘Montego Blue Metallic' colour! What I love about the Porsche Cayenne Coupe is, yes it looks amazing, but it feels fantastic to drive, too and it's pretty practical as a family car!
When it comes to installing child seats, there are ISOFix points in the two outer rear seats; they are within plastic guides and are nice and easy to connect to.
There are top tether anchorages on the back of all three rear seatbacks. They are within labelled plastic guides and easy to connect through the boot.
Three Infasecure child seats fit really easily across the rear seats of the 2023 Porsche Cayenne Coupe. I installed the Infaecure Attain More and Momentum More forward-facing and the Adapt More infant capsule rear-facing.
The Cayenne Coupe is a fantastic car for tall families. The legroom is very good and we could easily fit a 186cm driver in front of a rear-facing Infasecure Adapt More Infant Capsule.
Rear passengers are comfortably looked after with cup holders in the central seat fold-down armrest. A child's drink cup or reusable or disposable coffee cups fit in them.
Net map pockets on the back of both front seats will hold an iPad or book but not conceal them and there is a phone storage tray in the back of the central console box and 12V and USB-C sockets for charging.
The rear door bins will hold a refillable water bottle.
In the front, the door bins are bigger and will hold an iPad and refillable water bottle.
The central console is quite minimal in the front, with just two cup holders and a small storage well in front of them where small items like keys can fit.
Behind them is a shallow central console box.
In the front of the central console is a phone charging tray underneath a retractable lid.
The glove box will hold an iPad and purse, and it's fully lined, so anything stored in there won't rattle around.
The cabin of the 2023 Porsche Cayenne Coupe is nice and light with the cream leather upholstery and dash fitted to this test car. Of course with a Porsche the sky is the limit with colour customisation, if you're willing to pay the extra!
Around in the boot, the 2023 Porsche Cayenne Coupe is very practical for families. With a big opening, it is easy to load prams into.
The boot of the 2023 Porsche Cayenne Coupe will hold fifteen shopping bags, which is one less than I fitted in the non-coupe version of the previous model Cayenne. This coupe version holds the same amount of bags as the Audi Q8 and VW Touareg. The BMW X5 will hold sixteen bags of shopping in the boot, the Range Rover Velar will hold fourteen and the Jaguar F-Pace thirteen bags of shopping.
The Leclerc Baby Influencer XL one-hand-fold stroller fits in the boot of the Cayenne Coupe with the bassinet and room for five bags of shopping beside it.
The Leclerc Baby Influencer XL one-hand-fold stroller fits nicely in the boot of the Cayenne Coupe, with room for nine bags of shopping.
And with its compatible Infasecure Adapt More Infant capsule installed into the Porsche Cayenne Coupe…
…the Leclerc Baby Influencer XL fits nicely in the boot of the Cayenne Coupe, with lots of room for ten bags of shopping.
If you have a family dog or fur baby, then you can transport it in the boot of the Cayenne Coupe comfortably.
There are aircon vents in the back of the central console box in the 2023 Porsche Cayenne Coupe…
… and in the rear side pillars. Which are perfect for keeping little rear passengers at the right temperature while driving along.
The media system in the Cayenne Coupe is lovely, modern and easy to use.
It has some great features within it like the weather forecast.
You can control the climate through the media screen for the front and rear separately…
… as well as being able to see the air quality and clean it if you need to.
You can control the car's settings through the media screen, including the lighting.
One of the best features of the car is you are able to control the movement of the front passenger seat through the screen…
… using the driver seat controls.
The 2023 Porsche Cayenne Coupe has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, allowing you to easily access your phone's navigation, listening and communication apps while driving.
In reverse the camera images are lovely and crisp and clear.
You can change the camera view easily by pressing on the screen.
The Cayenne Coupe has a 360-degree camera…
I also like being able to squirt the rear camera to make sure it's clean enough to see out of it, by pressing on the icon on the screen.
The 2023 Porsche Cayenne Coupe is a fun and punchy car to drive. It has a smooth ride, and you are cocooned from any wind and road noise (but when you put your foot down, the exhaust lets you know it's there!) The turning circle is good in the Cayenne Coupe, making parking in tight school and supermarket car parks nice and easy.
When you have three Infasecure child seats installed in the back, the visibility is still good and you can see over the top of them and out the back windscreen.
There is a passenger seatbelt removal visual in the driver's display screen and it tells you the distance to empty clearly too so you can plan to refill your fuel when you don't have the kids in the car!
There is a button in the ceiling in the front that allows you to turn on and off the rear light easily.
The 2023 Porsche Cayenne Coupe makes a fantastic family car and BabyDrive. It comes with ten airbags but has not been ANCAP crash-tested.
Dual front, dual front knee, front side, rear side, and curtain airbags are standard.

The boot space and its functionality are really important. I like to have a big boot space and little side wells or areas I can divide things into. So something I don’t want to move around while I’m driving such as the kids lunch bag or her wet swimming gear can be sectioned off in a little well where it’s not going to spill or get squashed by the rest of the things in the boot.
Hooks for securing shopping bags to are also favourites of mine, I like being able to secure the bag containing more fragile things like eggs so they don’t move around on the journey.
I measure the boot space in freezer shopping bags, prams and dogs. Not because I think all there is to a mum’s life is food shopping, prams and dogs. (Although it can feel like it sometimes!!) But because these are visually mesurable items we can all associate with. For me, the car company boot measurement of litres is not an amount I can easily visualise and 400L in one car may differ in usability to that in another due to the configuration or shape of the space.
The twin side-by-side stroller fits in the boot of the Cayenne Coupe with six shopping bags beside it.
There is a large netted storage area along the side of the boot of the Cayenne Coupe, which is great for popping wipes and kids' things into.

BabyDrive Indepth - Noise
How noisy is the new 2023 Porsche Cayenne Coupe? How good is the media system in the 2023 Porsche Cayenne Coupe?
The 2023 Porsche Cayenne Coupe is a smooth and quiet car to drive because you are cocooned from the outside wind and road noise. You can hear the nice sound of the punchy exhaust when you accelerate, though!
The media system in the Cayenne Coupe is lovely, modern and easy to use.
It has some great features like YouTube and the weather forecast.
You can control the climate through the media screen for the front and rear separately…
… as well as being able to see the air quality and clean it if you need to.

Becoming a parent I soon realised there are some noises and sounds I feel are unnecessary and I could happily live without if it meant my baby stayed asleep!!
That often the distraction of my screaming, distressed baby is more dangerous when driving than not having a lane departure warning for example.
If it is the lane departure warning beeping that creates distress with my baby then which is safest?
It’s where I think we need to be able to strike a balance and choose when we can mute the warnings or swap them to a vibration in the steering wheel or flashing light perhaps?
A lot of these noises come with the increase in technology and especially linked to safety features and alerts. For me these all have their place.
Another thing I have realised is I spend my time in a lot more places where small children roam, parks, beaches, play gyms, swimming lessons, daycare centre etc. I have become more aware that when I’m reversing or manouvering in the car parks I have to tripple check for small children running around behind me or being in my blind spot when reversing. For this I LOVE reversing cameras, I just don’t like their beeping sounds!!
I have become so much more aware of safety and potential accidents or hazards since having a child and so I love the peace of mind that I get from the cameras and sensors combined with my own vision from windows and mirrors as I don’t trust cameras alone.
The indicators are not too loud in the Porsche Cayenne Coupe and you can lock the windows using the buttons in the drivers door…
… and lock the doors from a separate panel too.
The gears are not on a stalk in the central console they are on a paddle on the dash, beside the media screen. It takes a little getting used to I'll admit!
BabyDrive Indepth - Car Seats
How many child seats fit in the new 2023 Porsche Cayenne Coupe?
There are ISOFix points in the two outer rear seats in the Porsche Cayenne Coupe; they are within plastic guides and are nice and easy to connect to.
There are top tether anchorages on the back of all three rear seatbacks; they are within labelled plastic guides and are easy to connect through the boot.
Three Infasecure child seats fit really easily across the rear seats of the 2023 Porsche Cayenne Coupe. I installed the Infaecure Attain More and Momentum More forward-facing and the Adapt More infant capsule rear-facing behind the driver.
The Cayenne Coupe is a fantastic car for tall families. The leg room is very good, and we could easily fit a 186cm driver in front of a rear-facing Infasecure Adapt More Infant Capsule.
Posting Bub into their child seats in the back from inside and outside the Cayenne Coupe is nice and easy. The door openings are generous, and there is plenty of interior space.
Australia being a country of weather extremes; blazing sun and torrential rain, mean you may find it easier to put Bub into their seat from inside the car sometimes. If it’s hot you can get the air-con going, cool the car down and not stand out in the sun while you fasten them in or shelter from the rain and not get soaked yourself whilst you’re doing it. So it is important to test whether Bub can be easily installed from either direction!
I found there is room to feed Bub in the back with a child seat installed.
BabyDrive Indepth - Drive & Comfort
How comfortable is the new 2023 Porsche Cayenne Coupe? And How good is the new 2023 Porsche Cayenne Coupe to drive?
The front seats of the Porsche Cayenne Coupe are extremely comfortable…
…and easily adjustable using controls on the side of the seat bases.
The headrests are embossed with the Porsche logo.
Ad slim central console divides the front cabin, providing much-needed personal space for parents.
For mum travelling in the back with Bub, the seats are very comfortable. The central seat is firm because of the cup holders in the backrest.
The rear footwell does have a hump in the centre so you have to straddle that also in the central seat.
I found I could sit between the two Infasecure child seats in the back.
The outer seats are all perforated cream leather in the front and back which could be tricky to keep clean and trap kids' crumbs and spills (Porsche will happily sell you pretty much any colour combination you want though!)
For the first year of my first daughters life when we would go out as a family, if I wasn’t driving, I would travel in the back with her so it’s important to check the back seat comfort as you may be spending a lot of time in them! They were never something I gave any thought to before but I definitely notice a good or bad back seat now!
…and the central rear seat is black leather in this car's contrasting theme.
You can control the temperature of the front seats through the media screen.
The steering wheel is fully adjustable in/out and up/down.
The cruise controls are just behind the steering wheel on the left side. I found the cruise control to be very accurate on both motorways and at lower speeds on undulating roads.
The gear lever is a tab on the dash beside the media screen and to the left of the steering wheel.
There are four air-conditioning vents in the front of the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6. Four across the front dashboard, two below the media screen, and one at either end of the dash…
… and air-conditioning vents in the back of the central console box for rear passengers…
…and in the rear side pillars (these are my favourite).
There are climate controls in the media screen and a cabin filter to clean the air.
There are handles above both rear doors that are well-positioned to hang a toy for rear-facing passengers.
You can turn the rear lights on and off using a button in the front ceiling, which is very helpful so you can turn it on or off easily at night for your rear passengers.
I have found our kids do not like travelling in the dark in the car so if it gets dark whilst travelling then I reach back and turn the interior light on for her. So it’s really important for me that I can reach the rear ceiling light.
Also if I am traveling home and it is getting near to bed time and I DEFINITELY DON’T want her to fall asleep in the car as even a five-minute nap in the car means bed time is all over!!!! I lean back and pop the light on so it’s not dark and try to keep her awake!! Along with screaming/singing at the top of my voice!!!
It is also useful when there are lights situated above the doors where the handles are usually positioned. These are good for when putting baby into their child seats when visibility is poor, so you do not have to reach across them to a light situated in the ceiling centrally etc.
Visibility is very good in the new 2023 Porsche Cayenne Coupe, and parking and maneuvering is very easy using the excellent cameras.
One thing I have noticed since being a mum is I hate it when I reach a destination or get home from being out and my daughter has either done really well in the car or she is screaming her head off and I have done really well to keep it together for the entire journey (usually the latter!!) and it takes 10 minutes to park the car! It can be really stressful. Usually I dread parking new cars as they take longer in our tight apartment block carpark, but the Porsche Cayenne Coupe is simple to park as the visibility with the cameras is very good!
BabyDrive Indepth - Safety
How safe is the 2023 Porsche Cayenne Coupe?
The 20223 Porsche Cayenne Coupe has not been put through ANCAP crash testing but it does have a five-star Euro NCAP rating from 2017 (and this is an update of that model rather than completely new). It comes with ten airbags as standard, including dual front, dual front knee, front side, rear side, and curtain airbags.
As standard, all models of the 2023 Porsche Cayenne Coupe come with active bonnet system, warn and brake assist including pedestrian protection, lane change assist, adaptive cruise control, emergency assist and lane keep assist.
Some of these safety features are also features that drive me crazy as a mum! Like the lane departure and forward collision alert or the parking sensor beeping sound. I want all the safety technology AND to be able to mute the sound when my daughters are asleep!
